Lots of foundation breeding in this pedigree and some old names not too far back. Another line would have Hank H, Joe Reed II, Joe Sunday, Scooter S, Poco Lad, Amiga's Bar and Three Bars. Also a lot of strong color genetics with 4 generations of the grullo coloring showing up, making him 5th generation grulla.
Max's grandfather, The Hawkeye, was a well known Alberta stud that sired many, many good working ranch horses over the years. The grandsire on the bottom side, Breezy Rock, was a good working ranch horse also, who worked as good on the ranch as he did siring foals. Max's dam is also a ranch mare and followed her share of cattle.
Max's sire has a full brother that is grullo. His grandsire, The Hawkeye, threw a lot of grulla foals, so there strong grulla genetics on the top side as well as the bottom.
Max has great bone structure and should mature to 15+ hands, with good muscle already
apparent.

These pictures were taken of Max just ten minutes after he was haltered for the very first time. Max did not fight at all and led out of his pen as though he'd been leading for days. He doesn't mind his feet being picked up and is just the kind of colt that wants to please. He's very good natured and not prone to being the spooky sort.
Thank you and congratulations to Tina and Will Hyslop of United Kingdom Ranch in Avoco, Michigan!

Many thanks to Tina at United Kingdom Ranch for keeping us updated on Max's progress and sending us pictures. It's always great to know how horses we've sold are doing. Tina tells us that Max has a wonderful mind for a young stallion and is very gentle to handle. He takes everything new in stride - even being body clipped for the first time!
